Backstory - Okavango to the Kalahari, Botswana

The helicopter pilot took the doors off so that I could lean right out into the fresh air, flying a few hundred feet above the swampy ground of the Okavango Delta. I am glad my safety belt was strong otherwise I would have ended up with the hippos. That aerial footage makes up the opening shots of the feature.

Out in the Kalahari, the hazard was more palpable. Sand. Sand. Sand. It is one of the worst enemies of cameras (and tripods). You can never have enough big plastic bags on a trip. I have spent hundreds of dollars on padded backpacks designed for professional cameras but I often end up putting everything in a black bin bag.
