Tatler - Thoroughly Modern Hansar, Bangkok
July 2012

You might imagine that this cool boutique hotel, squeezed between behemoths the Four Seasons and the recently opened St Regis, would be daunted by its big-name neighbours. Not so. There is something very soothing about this all-suite urban bolthole with its wooden interiors, bright and breezy open corridors, wells of natural light, and walls of vertical gardens. The rooms have cleverly integrated bedrooms, workspaces and big lush bathrooms with delicious tubs and rainshowers. There’s no scrimping here: the minibar and wi-fi are included in the rate. Take a break in the eighth-floor infinity pool or book a treatment with fabulous masseuse Yui, who instinctively knows how to bespoke a signature massage. Best of all? The pretty price and perfect downtown position. With a sister hotel in Koh Samui and two more on the way (a second in Bangkok, one in Phuket), this homegrown brand is one to watch.
